Glorious Residence | Sofia

Located in one of Sofia's most exclusive districts, the Glorious Residence is a 3,100 m² private mansion conceived to translate the client's vision into architecture: expansive panoramic windows opening onto the park, natural light flooding every room, and a conception of contemporary luxury lived with discretion. The interior design project is the work of Alex Kovatchev, founder and creative director of IDEA International Studio, Bulgaria's most award-winning interior design practice, with projects across five continents and recognition in Europe, Asia and the United States

IDEA International Studio oversaw the entire project from concept to detail: layout, spatial distribution, material selection, furniture and lighting. The concept revolves around a generous open plan, with a rich mix of volumes, colours and textures designed to create an environment of strong personality. The stated intention was to build a sculptural piece to be seen and admired, capable of seducing, surprising and entertaining without ever sacrificing functionality or comfort. Panoramic windows dominate the composition, visually expanding the interior spaces towards the lush vegetation of the surrounding park.

The furniture selection draws on the finest Italian design: upholstered pieces by Poltrona Frau and Fendi Casa for the grand living areas, Giorgetti armchairs, the Fitzgerald modular sofa by Essential Home, and lighting from the Catellani & Smith collection. Leather, marble, brass and spectacular chandeliers compose a refined and sophisticated palette, while decorative plaster mouldings and decorated glass panels construct a visual dialogue between reality and fantasy, reinventing the idea of luxury as something meaningful rather than ostentatious. The project received the European Property Awards 2020 in the category “Residential Interior Private Residence Bulgaria”.
