Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern | Switzerland
Situated directly on the shores of Lake Lucerne, in the heart of the "City of Lights", Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern is one of Switzerland's most celebrated historic hotels. Managed by the Hauser family for five generations, this five-star property offers an unrivalled position between Lucerne's historic old town and the KKL Culture and Congress Centre, with breathtaking views over the lake and surrounding mountains
Founded in 1845 by the von Segesser brothers, the hotel has welcomed legendary figures throughout its history: Richard Wagner completed the third act of Tristan und Isolde here, a young Winston Churchill stayed in 1893, Leo Tolstoy was a guest in 1857, and Mark Twain wrote of his experience within these walls. Emperors, queens, musicians and actors have all left their mark on this extraordinary place.
The 101 rooms and suites, entirely renovated in 2014, each tell the story of a distinguished former guest through contemporary design, period pieces and original quotations. The hotel features two fine dining restaurants offering Swiss and Mediterranean cuisine, an elegant bar with live music, a wellness area with Technogym fitness equipment, sauna and hydromassage showers, and nine event and banquet rooms including the historic Zeugheer Hall from 1865.
Schweizerhof Luzern is the festival hotel of the city: official partner of LUZERN LIVE, the Lucerne Blues Festival, the Retro Festival and the World Band Festival. The neo-Renaissance building is listed as a cantonal historic monument and is one of the few Swiss hotels of national art-historical significance. The hotel’s philosophy is summed up in two words: Empathy & Excellence.
