Secret Garden House | Paros – Greece
Secret Garden House was conceived as a summer retreat in complete harmony with the Cycladic landscape. The residence nestles into the natural slope of the terrain, avoiding the traditional white volume in the island landscape and pursuing a symbiotic relationship with the surrounding environment.
The main dwelling is partially underground and takes the form of a cave house, taking advantage of Greek regulations that allow additional volumes for subterranean buildings. Large sliding glazed walls that disappear into the walls ensure cross ventilation and transform the interior spaces into a single open space facing the landscape. The house accommodates a living area with open-plan kitchen, two guest bedrooms in yacht style and a master suite with patio and outdoor shower.
The outdoor living area, positioned at the highest point of the property, includes a lounge, dining area, outdoor kitchen, shading pergola, solarium deck and a water feature that improves the microclimate during the hottest months. The landscape design reinforces the hybrid character between nature and architecture: low-irrigation native vegetation, paths in porous and camouflaged materials, filtering spaces between shade and light. The residence thus becomes a discreet retreat, sheltered from the north winds, immersed in silence and Mediterranean nature.
