Lake House Völs | Fiè allo Sciliar – Italy

Lake House Völs was born from the desire to renew the historic Schwimmhütte on Lake Fiè in a contemporary key, one of the most iconic places in South Tyrol. The old kiosk was demolished and replaced by two small, light and camouflaged structures, connected by a transverse axis that organises circulation and preserves the natural tranquillity of the area.

The first building houses the refreshment area, with a reinterpreted gable roof, a semi-open kitchen, self-service counter, panoramic loggia and terrace overlooking the lake. The second volume accommodates public facilities, changing rooms and a small open atrium, designed to maintain visual continuity toward the surrounding nature.

The material and chromatic choices echo the Alpine landscape: floors and surfaces clad in green resin, untreated larch wood and a timber frame system designed to be colonised by jasmine, making the architecture almost invisible on the lakeside. The changing rooms feature three-dimensional surfaces created by pressing South Tyrolean lacework into the resin, a tribute to local tradition. The whole complex integrates with great sensitivity into the context, respecting the nature reserve and offering contemporary, accessible spaces in perfect balance between public function and landscape immersion.
