Apartment in Quadronno | Milan
The project is located in the Quadronno neighbourhood, one of the most elegant corners of Milan, where period buildings coexist with works by masters such as Ponti, Mangiarotti and Caccia Dominioni. In this context, Offstage transforms an early twentieth-century residential apartment for a family of four, radically redesigning the internal layout while respecting the existing features.
The intervention stems from the need to obtain an additional bedroom and rethink the distribution of spaces. The kitchen, previously located in a separate room, becomes the focal point of the home: it is now placed at the centre of the house, in the living area, as a true “concrete heart”. Built in reinforced concrete with a curved wall and an opening toward the corridor, the kitchen visually expands the spaces and becomes the identity element of the entire project.
The material language continues with plasterboard ceilings with fluid lines, bespoke oak joinery elements, oak and beech parquet, restored original doors and ceiling decorations. The result is a balance between historical memory and contemporaneity, where natural materials and light play a central role in the perception of space.
