Villa BEC | Bevaix – Switzerland
Built in the historic fishing and wine-growing village of Bevaix, the villa stands on a peaceful slope near the jetties, immersed in a landscape overlooking Lake Neuchâtel and the Alps. The house seems to emerge from the hillside, as if the garden were rising up to protect the living space.
The architectural concept stems from the choice to arrange the entire living programme on a single level, with secondary spaces in the semi-basement floor. At the centre, a split-level patio creates a cascade of natural light that reaches even the lower floor, where a private garden offers an intimate and sheltered space.
The structure is entirely built in reinforced concrete, left exposed inside to maintain a continuous material flow. On the exterior, the concrete is bush-hammered to enhance its mineral character, while the large glazed surfaces on the ground floor dissolve the boundary between inside and outside. The use of anodised aluminium and oak wood creates a harmonious contrast with the materiality of the concrete, generating a contemporary architectural language consistent with the landscape. The result is a modern dwelling that combines openness and intimacy, transparency and solidity.
