Angaga Island Resort & Spa | Maldives
Set in the heart of South Ari Atoll, the Angaga Island Resort & Spa occupies a private island of approximately 42,000 m², accessible by a 25-minute seaplane flight from Velana International Airport in Malé. Managed by the Splendid Asia group, the resort offers an authentic barefoot luxury experience built around the natural beauty of its lagoon, white-sand beaches and one of the most abundant and accessible house reefs in the entire Maldivian archipelago
The resort has been developed in successive phases, each one preserving the spirit of traditional Maldivian architecture: thatched pavilion roofs, timber and bamboo structures, sea-facing swing verandas, and a design philosophy oriented towards integrating every construction within the island’s natural and marine landscape. The first phase dates to 2001, with the 50 Beach Bungalows. The 20 Superior Water Villas on stilts above the lagoon followed, then in 2014 a further 20 overwater units were added. More recently, 24 Premium Water Bungalows completed the complex; these newest additions feature luxury furnishings, a freestanding bathtub, a separate rain shower and a glass-bottomed table overlooking the coral below.
Dining centres on the Dolphin Restaurant, with international and Maldivian buffets at lunch and dinner, alongside the sandy-floored main bar and the Sundown Bar at the far end of the water villa jetty, an iconic spot for watching the sunset. The award-winning, PADI-certified SUB AQUA Dive Center provides access to over 30 dive sites, including year-round whale shark sightings. Duny Thai Spa offers treatments rooted in Eastern traditions. The resort is completed by the SUB AQUA Watersports Center, a fitness centre, tennis and badminton courts, and a daily excursion programme.
