Aquafalls Nature Hotel | Vieira do Minho – Portugal

Set on a hillside with a privileged view over the Cávado river and the Caniçada dam reservoir, at the heart of Peneda-Gerês National Park, Aquafalls Nature Hotel offers a stay immersed in nature, amid pure mountain air and crystal-clear waters. The 44 rooms and suites, spread between the main building and 11 outdoor bungalows (each with two suites), combine contemporary comfort with an aesthetic that dialogues harmoniously with the surrounding landscape

The property results from the renovation and extension of a former rural hotel, no longer competitive against the region’s offer, transformed according to the “Nature-Hotel” concept: an identity that celebrates nature, local traditions and customs, expressed in the built spaces, the decoration of each floor and a museum nucleus dedicated to the intangible heritage linked to the river and the mountain. The architecture project, dated 2015 with construction completed in 2016 across approximately 3,000 m², bears the signature of studio B612 Arquitectos in co-authorship with architect Joana Carvalho, with engineering by Eng&Prev and construction by Costeira.

The hotel features indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, gym, yoga room and zen room, alongside a Turkish bath, a pool overlooking the valley and wellness paths that counterpoint the natural beauty of Peneda-Gerês National Park.
