Crowne Plaza Dubai Festival City | Dubai
Overlooking the historic waters of Dubai Creek, the Crowne Plaza Dubai Festival City is part of the large hotel and commercial complex developed by Al-Futtaim Group in the Dubai Festival City district. Inaugurated in 2007, the hotel is distinguished by its curved glass facade inspired by the form of sailing vessels, a direct reference to the Creek's maritime heritage. Across 19 floors and 316 rooms and suites, it rises directly above The Event Centre, a congress space of approximately 4,200 m² with 19 meeting rooms and two grand ballrooms, just two kilometres from Dubai International Airport
The architectural design of the hotel complex, comprising the Crowne Plaza and the adjacent InterContinental Dubai Festival City, is the work of 3D/International of Houston, Texas, the same studio behind the original 1980 Hyatt Regency Dubai project. The masterplan for the entire Dubai Festival City district was handled by HOK Canada, Inc. Construction, which began in 2005, was entrusted to Al-Futtaim Carillion, a joint venture between Al-Futtaim Group and Carillion. The entire curved facade lighting system, extending over two kilometres across both hotels, underwent an LED retrofit by Color Kinetics/Signify in 2010, cutting lighting energy consumption by approximately 80%. The Al Baraha and Al Ras ballrooms have recently been comprehensively updated with next-generation audiovisual technology.
The dining offer includes Zaytoun, a Mediterranean and Levantine restaurant with an open terrace overlooking the Creek; the Belgian Beer Café, the first outlet of this brand in Dubai, with views over Festival Bay; and the Skyline Lounge with sunset panoramas over the Burj Khalifa. The hotel features a 25-metre outdoor pool on the leisure deck, a spa, a fitness centre, and direct access to Dubai Festival City Mall with over 400 stores and the IMAGINE show, a double Guinness World Record holder for its water, laser and fire projections.
