Prunner Luxury Suites | Merano
Located in the picturesque village of Scena, above Merano in South Tyrol, the Prunner Luxury Suites represent an entirely new concept of boutique hospitality: a refined hybrid between a luxury hotel and a high-end bed & breakfast, born from the vision of the Prunner family, innkeepers in this area since 1620. The property offers exceptionally spacious suites with breathtaking views of the Alps, the vineyards and Scena Castle, built around a philosophy that places silence, privacy and wellbeing at the heart of the experience
The architectural project is the work of UPC Architects Folie Bortondello Santa of Bolzano, with Thomas Bortondello, Robert Folie and Immanuel Santa as lead architects. The concept is built around a dual identity for the building: the landscape-facing side is terraced across three floors with five horizontal bands evoking the contour lines of the surrounding hills, inspired by the Spronser Lakes; the side facing the centre of Scena presents clean, classic lines that engage harmoniously with the traditional built fabric of the village. The standout element is the rooftop landscape: the saltwater infinity pool, heated year-round, is flanked by a Finnish sauna and a relaxation room offering a 360-degree panoramic view over the Merano basin; the entire rooftop oasis is invisible from the street below, guaranteeing complete privacy for guests.
The interiors were designed by Csilla Prunner, owner and interior designer who completed her master’s degree in Interior Design at the Accademia del Design NAD in Verona in 2018, specifically in order to realise this project to the highest standard. The design process began with the bathrooms, to which generous space and meticulous attention to detail were devoted. The chosen taps and fittings are the Gessi316 Intreccio collection in the precious woven-metal finish, selected for its capacity to unite technical quality and aesthetic refinement without compromise. The suites are completed by a farm-to-table breakfast prepared with regional and organic products and a self-service trust bar. The hotel has a twin property, Villa Helvetia, set within a centuries-old park in Merano. Photography of the property is by Matthias Vinatzer.
