The scenery is breathtaking: the Sunny Valley Kelo Mountain Lodge lies at an altitude of over 2700 metres in a pristine valley surrounded by the Stelvio National Park in northern Italy. You’re truly away from it all here.

The first thing the eye notices are the massive logs of the Lodge’s outer walls: fine Kelo wood from virgin forests in the north of Finland, which is only harvested at the end of its 400 year life cycle. The process of dehydration in the dry, cold polar climate results in a hardy wood that can withstand extreme temperatures as low as -50° C. Carpenters from Lapland’s Sami people, skilled in working with this wood, built the wooden structure while local craftsmen used stones from nearby quarries to create the imposing walls. It took 10 years, until the end of 2017, before everything was ready. Today the Mountain Lodge has 11 comfortable, extremely well-kept and lavishly appointed suites for its guests. Both in winter and summer. Spacious, luxuriously designed rooms and suites in which the materials of wood and stone in their various shades of brown with a touch of grey create a cozy atmosphere. And of course, every room comes with a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains.

As in his meticulous choice of wood and stones, Beppe Bonseri, the project’s creator, took care over every detail. In the bathrooms, guests will find bidets and WCs from the Pura collection by GSI.
