Tiara Yaktsa Hotel Côte d’Azur | France
Nestled among the red rocks of the Esterel massif in Théoule-sur-Mer, just thirty minutes from the Croisette in Cannes, Tiara Yaktsa Hotel commands the Mediterranean with a 180° panoramic view over a landscape of rare beauty: the green of the pine trees, the red of the Esterel rocks and the ever-changing blue of the Grande Bleue. Built in the 1920s as a holiday residence and later expanded into a hotel, the building was acquired by Tiara Hotels and completely transformed, reopening in 2009 as a Relais & Châteaux boutique hotel
The total intervention covering architectural design, interior design and landscaping was entrusted to the studio PPS of Portuguese interior architect Pilar Paiva de Sousa. The result is a décor evoking the home of a discerning collector, at the crossroads between a Provençal house and a Moroccan riad: Syrian chests inlaid with mother-of-pearl, decorative wood panels sourced in Marrakech, Italian curtains for four-poster beds, furniture and wardrobes from Portugal, Venetian lighting fixtures and walls adorned with sumptuous Chinese silver necklaces. The imposing moucharabieh-style openwork wooden porch introduces guests into a terraced garden with Provençal fragrances and “restanques” the characteristic low stone walls of the region.
The 21 rooms and suites, each uniquely decorated, overlook the Mediterranean or the garden from their private terraces or balconies. The gastronomic restaurant L’Or Bleu, awarded a Michelin star in 2021, is led by chef “MOF” Alain Montigny. A heated infinity pool and access to the Tiara Spa by Sothys at the neighbouring Tiara Miramar Beach Hotel & Spa complete the offer.
