Quellenhof Luxury Resort | Lazise

Overlooking the blue waters of Lake Garda among olive groves, cypresses and palm trees, the Quellenhof Luxury Resort in Lazise opened its doors on 28 February 2019: the first five-star hotel on the eastern shore of the lake, and the first project by the Dorfer family outside South Tyrol. It rises on a 12,000 m² plot previously occupied by abandoned greenhouses, transformed by South Tyrolean architects Stephan Marx and Elke Ladurner, in collaboration with Veneto-based studio O+T Architetti Olivieri e Turcato, into a luxury resort that engages with the lakeside landscape in every detail

The architectural concept revolves around an osmotic relationship between interior and exterior: the stone columns articulating the façades draw inspiration from the medieval walls of Lazise’s historic centre, while the large Schüco panoramic sliding façade systems dissolve the boundary between the interior spaces and the park with its pools and Monte Baldo backdrop. The light of the lake functions simultaneously as scenography and building material. The interiors were curated by Mrs. Dorfer, a member of the owning family, with meticulous attention to detail: modern suites in stone and dark timber, rainfall showers, smart controls, Nespresso, and artworks punctuating every space. The resort accommodates 70 units comprising rooms, suites, Family Suites, two-storey Penthouse Pool Villas with a rooftop private pool, sauna and whirlpool, Garden Pool Villas and 50 m² dépendance apartments.

The Onda Spa wellness centre extends across 2,000 m² with 8 treatment rooms, a private spa suite and hairdresser; the adults-only area features a Finnish sauna, steam sauna and bio-sauna with dedicated relaxation zones, mirrored by an identical family area. The pool offering includes the panoramic rooftop sky pool, a 25-metre sports pool heated year-round with indoor access, a children’s pool with two water slides and a natural swimming lake in the park. The Panorama Restaurant with its retractable roof offers six-course evening menus by chef Georg Costabei; the Bistro La Piazza covers lighter fare. Golf, horse riding, tennis, Pilates, mountain biking and trekking animate the activities programme. The resort is directed by Stefan Margesin. Photography is by Alexander Haiden.
