Falkensteiner Family Resort Lido | South Tyrol – Italy
The Falkensteiner Family Resort Lido is the historic first hotel of the Falkensteiner family, today transformed by NOA into a true three-dimensional playground dedicated to families with children, without losing the original identity of the structure. The most iconic element is the new wave roof, a large reinforced concrete and steel-and-timber beam structure that unites the old and new complex, is covered in vegetation and slopes down to merge with the ground.
On this suspended landscape, a 163-metre ski slope with a year-round ski lift, an ice-skating rink, fitness trails, a go-kart track, a mini adventure park, play areas and a long panoramic loop path are all developed. On the west side, football and basketball courts and the arrival of a 120-metre water slide that plunges into the lake connect to the world of pools and underground play areas.
The facades are unified by a single colour for the masonry and geometric patterns in natural wood recalling old Alpine barns, reinforcing the connection with the landscape. The relationship with the lake is redesigned through an artificial hill housing the adult spa, a large terrace and a partially covered heated pool that overflows toward the water.
The interiors alternate playful atmosphere and relaxation: the three-level restaurant guarantees lake views for all guests, with furnishings and lights inspired by the forest, water lilies and reeds. Reception and entrance are reinterpreted with decorated columns recalling the forest, vivid colours and swings alongside a parents’ lounge. 36 new rooms are added to the existing 82, with a parents’ zone, a children’s zone separated by a sliding panel and a bathroom with basins at different heights. The entire project unites nature, play and comfort as a single coherent system strongly oriented toward experiential sustainability.
