Bogen Flower Bistrot | Bolzano

In the heart of Bolzano's historic centre, an ancient barrel-vaulted shop comes back to life through a project by NOA, which transforms it into the Bogen bistrot: a place where medieval heritage meets a refined contemporary sensibility, combining natural textures with an eye for detail.

The space is located inside the “Haus am Gang”, a building of great historical value along the ancient Via dei Carrettai. The medieval arches, the suspended gallery and the stone architecture bear witness to the long history of the house, which over the centuries passed from the Teutonic Order to various craftsmen and local families.

The intervention focused on the ground floor, a space once dedicated to cobblers, carpenters and merchants. NOA restores the original structure by enhancing the four arches that mark the depth of the venue and widening the entrance with a new black metal frame. The lighting is designed to highlight the geometry of the vaults, while grey-beige screed floors and an oak platform create a uniform perception of the space.

The bistrot takes on a romantic and bohemian character thanks to its central feature: a 7-metre counter topped by a spectacular floral vault, a composition of inverted baskets filled with dried flowers. This poetic gesture, created by owner Roswitha Mayr, becomes the symbol of the venue’s identity. The seating alternates new pieces with vintage chairs, while some niches lined with floral fabric offer intimate corners beneath the arches.

The service area is enclosed in a prismatic volume in micro-perforated sheet metal with a printed floral pattern, integrating technical needs with a decorative atmosphere. The result is a space suspended between past and present, where the history of Bolzano intertwines with a contemporary vision of romanticism, natural textures and attention to detail.
